Question by Kat DeMuriel: Your opinion on a spooky dream from the past?
I have had this dream two times. The last time was over 5 years ago, and it is still with me. The first time I dreamed it, I went to my old house in Nebraska, but it had been totally restored to a Victorian manor. I walk in and get this weird feeling, very uncomfortable. At the base of the stairs is a closed closet, and I can feel evil coming from it. I need to get up the stairs to the “orangerie”, a glass conservatory on the second level filled with plants and yes, orange trees. I know it is safe there, but I cannot overcome my fear to climb the stairs.

The second time I dreamt it, (over 5 years ago) There was a ghost child, a little girl by the closet-crying for me. Her hands were outstretched and I was still terrified, but felt such empathy for this little girl that I started to venture over to her. I looked up the landing and could see the “orangerie” with its stained glass and beauty. I knew that if I could get this child and make it upstairs, all would be all right. At that point I woke up. I have not had the dream or anything remotely like it since.

Your take on these dreams please?

Phantom of the Apocalypse

Josie is proud of her new straw hat until a seagull lifts it off her head at the beach. She thinks it is annoying when she has to follow the bird over the sand dunes. She is quite amazed when she slogs through a forest and arrives at a ghost town that she has never heard about on the other side of the peninsula. In her efforts to get a ride back home she is shocked to run into a skeleton dressed in a wedding gown, a boy who seems to disappear before her very eyes, and a stained glass figure in the church that seems to want to rush out at her. Josie knows that she’s really in trouble when she doesn’t get home by dark. She hears galloping hoof beats coming after her. She runs down the beach, but can anyone escape the rider atop the infamous horse, Phantom of the Apocalypse?

    Say this prayer out loud:

“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask You in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve You always.” Amen

Dreams play a very important role in our well-being. It is during the rapid-eye movement (or R.E.M.) sleep that many complex metabolic functions take place that bring healing to our bodies and minds. This usually tales place between the hours of 3 and 5 A.M., and in this relatively short time we are made whole again and able to face another day.

The complex interaction between our dreaming and other metabolic functions is an emerging science, and may lead to breakthroughs in systemic illnesses; including psychosis, obesity, hypertension and many others. Your dream has created symbols that are unique to you (sorry….. dream symbol books are of little value) and this drama that has emerged into your conscious mind has an important tale to tell. You are wise to pursue the matter! Now, as to your dream:

I think you know that the child is you, as well as the adult. That closet represents a basket of fears, ones that a little girl might find debilitating. But I like your dream in that it shows a success story in the making. In the second dream, you are ready to venture out of the closet and face the real world under the guiding hand of your adult self.

The orangerie has a supernatural element, given the stained glass and (I sense) unusual beauty. Ghost- child is such an apt description. Many of us carry the remnants of a dead or dying inner child, screaming for enlightenment. Life awaits you both. Ascend the stairs and drink in the beauty of your magnificent “orangerie”.

    Best wishes to you!
