What color should an 18th century Victorian house be painted?
There are no local requirements for historic preservation and we cannot locate any information regarding the original color palatte that was used on the house. Please give us some suggestions.

Victorian houses in my country are usually painted cream with green trimmings (doors, window sashes etc.)
I am not sure exactly what colors to go with but I have always wanted to have a pink house with white trim and a white picket fence. Not to mention a trellis with flowers all over it! Of course, I live in a very pale blue house with white trim.
Since there are no local requirements, you can paint the house any colors you choose. Myself, I would choose a variety of colors and try them on the house for a few days before making a final decision. The normal Victorian home in my neighborhood seems to have about 5-10 different shades of bright colors. If you have various styles of siding, you might want to consider a different color for each style as well as trim and shutters. Sometimes, various balusters and posts are painted in stripe patterns (myself, I find that gaudy, but it is done).
Try searching “painted lady houses”,or try “webshots”,they have amazing albums that u may find helpful when deciding on colours to use. :)
