Question by Sega’s Mom: Where would I look to find the history of a piece of property, home and/or land? We just purchased a piece of property and would like to find out if there is any “history” behind the house and/or land. The home is a beautiful victorian 2-story house in an older part of town. Just wondering Best answer: Answer by Tracy SFirst thing is to search tax records of the property which usually starts at when the house was built, type, footage, taxes per year, add ones, etc. then move on to your library. What do you think? Answer below! Even for the MEGA MOVERS, some jobs are out of the ordinary. How about transporting a family business without emptying the interior–so the doors can re-open as soon as possible after the building is resettled? That’s...

Morganville is such a small town, google maps won’t even show me detailed view at all, and i look online and can’t find anything on this specific home. It was just a beautiful victorian and i’d like to find out more to possibly write a book. Anyone know how to look up that information without traveling to the town? I live in colorado now and don’t have a vehicle. Best answer: Answer by ?Puma?Try your library. Houses have deeds, and any person who owned, and lived in a house are listed. Question by joey.edwards21: i am looking at changing the look of my studio apartment from a today look to a victorian look,? is it possible to change the door handle on the inside to a victorian door knob while keeping the other new door handle on the outside? can the inside of the door be changed to look like a door from the turn of the 20th Century while keeping the 21st century outside door? Best answer: Answer by meThere are fiberglass door panels you can glue on your interior door. You can also use trim work that you paint. As far as the knob..you would need to bring your door Assembly to a hardware shop and most likely purchase a knob set that utilizes the same size spindle on the interior. There are dummy handles too and levers that you can attach to give the impression. http://images.google.ca/images?q=dummy+door+handle&hl=en&rlz=1T4ADBR_enCA307CA310&um=1&sa=2&start=0 Add...

Five Ways To Achieve The Look of Victorian Christmas Decorations 1. Use lots of greenery. Natural greenery like boughs of pine and fir played a major role in Victorian holiday decor – in fact, holiday parties centered around “the hanging of the greens” were a standard of the day.  Pine and fir are traditional holiday greenery, and branches of shiny, long lasting magnolia and laurel leaves look lovely on their own or in combinations. 2. Raid the pantry. Fresh fruit was considered a treat in the midst of a Victorian era winter, and it was enjoyed for its beauty as well as its taste. Tuck a few sprigs of green and some ribbon bows into a sparkling glass bowl of shiny red and green apples or clove studded oranges for a thrifty dash of period charm. Walnuts, almonds, chestnuts...

Victorian Conservatories are beautiful and offer a perfect depiction of the age that they are named after. These conservatories are characterized by a multi-faceted front that is similar in appearance to a bay window, lending a more square shape to the structure. Many find that this shape creates a better setting for a modern interior design. These beautiful conservatories can be dated by to the early 1700s among the higher classes. The style is a classic which will be forever in style and popular. Many homeowners now prefer this style because of the combination of aesthetic appearance and function. The original Victorian conservatory usually had delicate frames and slim lines, and this is the look that many love. Sometimes builders may make a structure too bulky, which totally ruins the appearance....

Modern kitchens may be efficiently kitted out and look seamlessly well designed with nice materials fixtures and finishes – but lack any personality, and thus don’t fulfill their new role as the epicenter of socialising in the home. Whatever the style – Gothic, Punk, Eclectic, 50′s American retro, Victoriana or Bauhaus -  design  influences  of  the recent and more distant past are the ultimate source for inspiration in giving your home and kitchen design that memorable touch, whether you are refitting or accessorising. I recently visited a successful designer friend’s home recently, who has a very impressive kitchen extension on an equally impressive 19th century house. It wasn’t the scale and the impressive skylights that gave made the space memorable...
