Question by Viktor-C’est la vie!: Hiring a live-in maid, do people still do this these days? My wife, three kids, and I live in a large 5000 square foot restored Queen Anne Victorian. Our house has a maid’s quarters near the rear of the house with a bedroom, a bathroom, and stairwell. We’ve been contemplating putting this space to use by actually hiring a live-in maid like the first family who built this house in the late 1880s. Do people still do this these days? Is it safe? How do you go about doing such a thing?
