Is there a proper place to mount an American flag on a Victorian House?
I’m just wondering if there was a general rule on where to mount an American flag on a Victorian house? I’ve seen pictures where most are at the stairway to the entrance of the house. I’ve also seen them set up at the very top of the middle of the house by the attic. What do you people think?
Yea for the night flying I plan on getting a couple solar spot lights. I figured they should put out enough light to light the flag up.
Most of the ones I’ve seen have it hanging off a pole coming off the top of the front porch stairs.
Anywhere you want to. However, consider it is good flag etiquette that if your going to fly your flag at night, it is supposed to be lighted.
I’d go with by the front stairway. I’ve never heard any rule on this one, but it’s easier to get to the flag when it’s by the front door.
It is the universal custom to display the American flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings in the open. However, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.
It all depends on the style of your Victorian home and there is no rule.
I think it would look better at the entrance though.
I work in a Victorian house. Around July 4th we always hang an American flag vertically from the second story balcony. Makes us all feel very patriotic!
