Question by HTSCP: Buying a house out of state, where do I go to get the mortgage?
My wife and I currently reside in the midwest and we are planning to move to the east coast in (hopefully) about 6 months. Where should I go for the mortgage? Do I need to get it from someone in the east cost area or someone in my current home town?

We’ll be moving somewhere in the southern middle most part of the state. Its a small town. We’re currently looking at a few victorian homes that will need renovation so I am planning on getting an FHA 203K loan.

Thank you for your time.

You go to a lender that writes loans in that state – so ask. Doesn’t matter where the actual lender is located.

Wherever you wish. Well, you can do a well known lender like Bank of America, or contact a loan officer that is able to service loans in the state in which you are moving to. Call around, search the internet. I would ask around for recommendations from friends or family and call the loan officer up to see if they service loans in the state in which you are moving to and go from there.

    Best of Luck!

A lender from the area where you’re planning to buy.
